On Monday, July 15, 2013, Harlem Dowling-West Side Center commemorated the burning of our orphanage, then known as the Colored Orphan Asylum, during the Civil Rights Draft Riots.  During a private reception, Dr. William Seraile provided an overview of this historic event and the impact it had on the children.

The event also featured the agency’s Home for Harlem Dowling project.   Click link to see article in the New York Nonprofit Press.
